Lankford, Inhofe Applaud Oklahoma Judicial Nominee Passing Committee
WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today applaud a 16-5 bipartisan vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee on the nomination of Oklahoma attorney, Mr. John F. Heil, III, to serve as US District Judge for the Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma. Heil was nominated by President Trump on November 6, 2019. Lankford introduced Heil at his nomination hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee in January.
“I’m grateful for the Senate Judiciary Committee’s work to move John’s nomination through the process so he is able to serve his fellow Oklahomans,” said Lankford. “I encourage the full Senate to vote on his nomination without delay. I continue to thank John and his family for their willingness to serve and as they remain patient through this process. I am confident in his leadership and commitment to Oklahomans and the nation.”
“I am glad to see the nomination of fellow Tulsan John Heil favorably reported out of committee today,” Inhofe said. “John has extensive experience in both federal and state courts—more than 25 years—and there is no question he will serve Oklahoma and our nation well in this new role. Now, let’s continue this tradition we’ve started of confirming judges on the floor quickly and allow him to get to work in this new capacity for Oklahoma.”
