Senators Lankford, Inhofe Applaud Nomination of Tulsa Attorney to Serve on US District Court

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today issued statements of support for President Trump’s nomination of John Heil to serve as judge on the US District Court for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma. In addition to announcing Mr. Heil’s nomination, President Trump also made remarks on the administration’s judicial confirmation milestones.

“John Heil’s work and reputation across Oklahoma has proven he is well-qualified, and I am confident his expertise will serve our nation and Oklahoma well,” said Lankford. “I am grateful John is willing to answer the call to serve, and I look forward to his confirmation in the Senate in the days to come.”

“The president’s nomination of fellow Tulsan John Heil to serve on the U.S. District Court is a welcome one,” Inhofe said. “After earning his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University, John earned his law degree at the University Tulsa College of Law and went on to earn many achievements for his work. John has handled litigation matters in various state and federal courts, including at the appellate level, throughout the United States and has extensive trial experience, giving him all the tools necessary to excel in this new role. I commend the president on this nomination and urge my colleagues in the Senate to confirm him swiftly.

By the end of this week, we will have successfully confirmed 45 circuit court nominees—more than double the number of President Obama at this point in his presidency and 112 district judges.
