Senator Lankford Meets with DHS Secretary Nominee Kirstjen Nielsen

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today met with Kirstjen Nielsen, President Donald Trump’s nominee to be Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

“Kirstjen Nielsen has an impressive resume and extensive experience working at DHS that will serve us well as she leads the agency,” said Lankford. “Specifically, her background in cybersecurity is vital as we continue to confront and protect against those who wish to do our country harm through cyber-attacks. I am also confident that she will be a strong leader as the agency walks through the process to improve our nation’s border security. I look forward to her confirmation hearing, and I am encouraged that her nomination will make it through swiftly in the days ahead.”

If confirmed Nielsen will replace retired General John Kelly. Kelly was confirmed earlier this year but has since left to serve as Chief of Staff to the President.
