Senators Lankford, Inhofe Applaud Nomination of Judge Charles Goodwin to US District Court in Oklahoma

WASHINGTON, DC — Senators James Lankford and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today applauded President Trump’s nomination of Judge Charles Goodwin to the US District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

“Charles Goodwin is a qualified judicial candidate for the US District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, and I’m pleased he’s been nominated,” said Lankford. “He has served Oklahoma well as a Magistrate Judge, and I am confident that he’ll continue to serve this court and the nation well because of his commitment to the rule of law.”

“Charles Goodwin is a strong pick for the Western District of Oklahoma,” Inhofe said. “He has served as U.S. magistrate judge in the Western District for four years and has extensive experience as a civil litigator. He has a reputation for being fair and ethical and his strong understanding of the Western District will serve him well in this role. In nominating Charles, President Trump has picked a judge that will ensure the laws of our nation and our Constitution are followed and will not legislate from the bench.”

Judge Charles Goodwin currently serves as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Western District of Oklahoma. In that capacity, he has presided over approximately 500 initial proceedings in felony cases, issued approximately 350 opinions in civil cases, and disposed of over 1000 misdemeanor cases. Earlier in his career, Magistrate Judge Goodwin was a partner and civil litigator at Crowe & Dunlevy, P.C., and he served as a law clerk to Judge Lee R. West of the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and to then-Magistrate Judge Claire V. Eagan in the Northern District of Oklahoma. He received his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma and his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he served on the Oklahoma Law Review
