Senators Lankford, Inhofe Applaud President’s Nomination to Federal District Court in Oklahoma

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today applauded President Trump’s nomination of Scott Palk to be US District Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma.

“Scott is a great candidate to serve as a federal judge for the US District Court for Oklahoma because of his dedication to uphold the rule of law,” said Lankford. “Scott’s years of work in Oklahoma make him exceptionally qualified to serve as one of Oklahoma’s federal judges, and I applaud President Trump for nominating a strong candidate that will represent our state and nation well.”  

“By nominating Scott Palk to serve on the Federal District Court, President Trump is upholding his campaign promise to nominate to the federal bench principled jurists who are committed to enforcing the Constitution’s limits on federal power,” Inhofe said. “Scott has an extensive record of distinguished service both a prosecutor and as an assistant dean and assistant general counsel at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He is well known in Oklahoma for his honesty, integrity and his fair and balanced approach in applying the law. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate on his quick and fair confirmation.”   

Scott L. Palk has served as the Assistant Dean for Students and Assistant General Counsel at the University of Oklahoma College of Law since 2011. In addition to overseeing admissions and providing legal counsel, Palk serves as a consultant to the University’s Threat Assessment Review Committee, advising in areas of criminal threat assessment and legal access.

From 2002 to 2011, Palk served as an Assistant US Attorney in the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma, where he held a number of managerial roles beginning in 2004, including deputy criminal chief and anti-terrorism advisory council coordinator. 

Prior to joining the US Attorney’s Office, Palk served as an assistant district attorney for Cleveland County in Norman, Oklahoma, from 1992 to 2002, where he served as the first assistant district attorney from 1999 to 2002. 

Palk received his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1992 and his B.S. from Oklahoma State University in 1989.
