Senator Lankford to Chair Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee

WASHINGTON, DC –  Senator James Lankford (R-OK) has been chosen to chair an Appropriations Subcommittee and serve on a new Subcommittee. This week, Senate Appropriations Chairman Thad Cochran (R-MS) announced that Lankford will serve as the new chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Legislative Branch, which maintains jurisdiction over the Federal Legislative Branch of government, including the Capitol Police, House of Representatives, Senate, Library of Congress, Congressional Budget Office, and Government Accountability Office, among other offices. 

“I am honored to chair this Appropriations Subcommittee on Legislative Branch, which oversees Congress and many of its related offices,” said Lankford. “There are thousands of dedicated public servants who work for the Capitol Police and for these important offices of the legislative branch. I appreciate their service to the nation, and I look forward to working together to bring certainty and efficiencies to these offices.” 

Lankford will continue serving on the following Appropriations subcommittees: Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; Financial Services and General Government; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs. In addition to joining the Legislative Branch Subcommittee, Lankford is also joining the Subcommittee on Department Homeland Security.

In addition to the Senate Appropriations Committee, Lankford will continue serving on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Intelligence Committee, and Indian Affairs Committee.

Lankford will also continue as chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management.
