Senator Lankford Supports Committee Confirmation of Rep Mike Pompeo for CIA Director

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today questioned President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to be the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS) during his nomination hearing before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
“Mike Pompeo’s impressive resume, years of military and private-sector experience and service on the House Intelligence Committee, makes him a distinctively qualified candidate to lead the CIA,” said Lankford. “It speaks volumes that he has an excellent reputation both with his colleagues and with the men and women of the Intelligence Community. I respect Mike and know he will lead the Agency with honor, integrity, and with the commitment to protect our nation. I look forward to supporting his nomination.”
Pompeo is currently serving in his third-term in the US House of Representatives on behalf of the fourth district of Kansas. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as a cavalry officer patrolling the Berlin Wall. He also served the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry in the Fourth Infantry Division. Pompeo serves on the House Permanent Intelligence Committee and was appointed to the House Select Committee on Benghazi in 2014.
Lankford serves on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
