Senator Lankford to Join Oklahoma Fosters Initiative Events in Tulsa

WASHINGTON, DC — The Office of Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today announced that the Senator will participate in two special events with the Oklahoma Fosters Initiative in Tulsa next week–an Appreciation Breakfast for foster families and a Roundtable Discussion for foster families, social workers and advocates. The roundtable discussion will focus on the foster care process in Oklahoma and the need to recruit more families. Individuals interested in becoming foster parents, as well as existing foster families, are encouraged to attend. An RSVP is required. Individuals can RSVP for the events or get involved with the Initiative by going to the Oklahoma Fosters website (www.OklahomaFosters.com) or calling the foster parent hotline at 1-800-376-9729.

Both events are sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services; Americas Kids Belong, a national foster care organization; and the 111Project, a state foster care organization. May is National Foster Care Month, a time to recognize and celebrate foster children and foster parents in America. Lankford has made recruitment of more foster families in Oklahoma a focus.
