James Lankford Sworn In As United States Senator

WASHINGTON, DC— Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today was officially sworn in as the 18th Senator from the State of Oklahoma and released the following statement:

“I am extremely honored and humbled to serve the people of Oklahoma as their 18th United States Senator,” said Lankford. “Although today is a day of celebration for the new Congress, we have a lot of work ahead to get our nation headed in the right direction. Our federal debt continues to burden our economy and our children’s future. Our budgeting process is broken; our standing in the world is diminished; and Obamacare continues to harm our communities. Our nation faces many problems that demand the immediate attention of Congress. I look forward to bringing Oklahoma values to the United States Senate, and I remain committed to the principles that make America great.”

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) announced today that Senator Lankford was chosen to serve on the Senate Republican Whip Team for the 114th Congress. Lankford will also serve on the following four Committees: the Committee on Appropriations, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Committee on Indian Affairs.
