Lankford, Inhofe Applaud Nomination of Oklahoma City Judge
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today issued statements of support for President Trump’s nomination of Bernard M. Jones to serve as Judge for the US District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. Jones currently serves as a United States Magistrate Judge on the Western District court.
“Having served as a Magistrate Judge for the last four years, Judge Jones is well qualified to step into this role,” said Lankford. “There should be no hesitation by my colleagues to confirm Judge Jones in a timely manner, and I am grateful he is willing to take on this responsibility to serve our state and nation.”
“I am glad to see the president nominate Judge Bernard Jones today to serve as a District Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma,” Inhofe said. “After his time as a District Judge in Oklahoma’s Seventh Judicial District, he began serving in his current role of United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma, making him well qualified to serve in this new capacity. Judge Jones is a dedicated jurist that will continue to serve our nation and the people of Oklahoma well. I commend the president on this nomination and urge my colleagues in the Senate to confirm him swiftly.”
Jones was previously a District Judge for the Seventh Judicial District for the state of Oklahoma. He served as an Associate Dean for Admissions and External Affairs and Assistant Dean for Admissions at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Jones earned his law degree from Notre Dame in Indiana. He hails from Oklahoma City and graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School.
