Lankford, Inhofe Applaud VA Grant to Build Veteran Cemetery in Ardmore

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today applauded the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Cemetery Administration’s (NCA) announcement of a $7,355,463 grant for the establishment of a State Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

“The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs has worked for years to bring this final resting place to Oklahoma veterans and their eligible family members,” said Lankford. I am grateful for ODVA’s dedication to this task so we can continue to honor our fallen heroes with a local final resting place.”

“The news of this $7 million grant through the Veterans Cemetery Grant Program to establish a State Veterans Cemetery in Oklahoma is a fitting tribute,” said Inhofe. “Oklahoma’s military men and women sacrifice so much, sometimes everything, for their country. They deserve a resting place that honors their service. I am glad we can establish one for them in southeastern Oklahoma.”

The grant will fund the construction of 1,104 pre-placed crypts, 434 cremains gravesites, 600 columbarium niches, a main entrance, an administration building, a maintenance facility, roads, an assembly area, landscaping, a memorial walkway, and supporting infrastructure on approximately 12 acres, enabling the cemetery to provide service for approximately 25,571 veterans and their eligible family members.
