Lankford Issues Statement on Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) issued the following statement after voting for a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government until March 14, 2025.

Stopgap funding isn’t a real solution—it’s a sign of a broken Congress. I will continue to push for my bill to end the threat of government shutdowns so we can focus on our debt without the fear of cutting off funding to support our military, law enforcement, and border personnel,” said Lankford.

Sen. Lankford’s Prevent Government Shutdowns Act would end the cycle of shutdown threats once and for all by keeping the government running at the previous year’s levels if Congress fails to pass appropriations bills on time. Members of Congress would be required to stay in Washington, DC until a new funding agreement is reached.
