Lankford Recognized as Students For Life Pro-Life Generation Leader of the Month

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) was recognized as the Students For Life Pro-Life Generation Leader of the Month of November for his consistent, dedicated work on Capitol Hill to defend life inside and outside the womb.

“Those of us in the pro-life movement understand, and the science agrees, that every life, born or unborn, has value,” said Lankford. “The right to life is the most basic human right of all. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court failed to honor that right 48 years ago when Roe v. Wade was decided. I’m proud to work alongside the millions of pro-life Americans who are dedicated to the fight for life. I will not stop using my voice to advocate for the right of every person to live. I really appreciate the hard work and enthusiasm of Students for Life as they organize and prepare our nation for a post-Roe reality.  Students for Life are leading every campus to value every life.”

“We live at a time of new opportunities for protecting life in law,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America and Students for Life Action. “We are blessed to have leaders like Senator Lankford who courageously, strategically, and consistently fight to defend the preborn, their mothers, and their families.”

Lankford has been the leading voice in Congress for the protection of life. Yesterday, he met with Students for Life during a prayer vigil ahead of the Court hearing oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which presents the Supreme Court with the opportunity to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Lankford also gave a moving speech on the Senate floor recognizing the significance of Dobbs in the fight for life. He joined an amicus brief signed by more than 220 Members of Congress supporting the state of Mississippi in Dobbs

Lankford pushed back on the Biden Administration’s rule to allow taxpayer funded abortions. He successfully secured language in the Democrats partisan $3.5 trillion Fiscal Year 2022 budget resolution to save the long-standing Hyde and Weldon Amendments, which prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions and abortion-related discrimination against health care workers, including insurers.

Lankford published an op-ed ahead of Dobbs highlighting the pivotal moment the case presents for protecting the right to life in the nation. Lankford released two episodes of a four-part series on his podcast, The Breakdown with James Lankford, highlighting the science behind life in the womb and the stories behind the pro-life movement.
