Lankford Votes to Keep Government Functioning As Congress Continues to Negotiate Spending Bills

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) issued the following statement after voting to support a continuing resolution to fund the two sets of government agencies included in the end-of-year spending bill last year until March 1 and March 8, respectively, averting a partial government shutdown on January 19:

“Senator Schumer has not brought to the Senate floor a single appropriations bill since November. Our skyrocketing national debt and out-of-control spending need to be addressed thoughtfully and immediately with real debate. We must finally address our national budget this year and get busy planning the next budget year.”
