Senator James Lankford: Obamacare is not working for all Americans
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today released the following statement after the Obama administration announced that premiums for Obamacare will increase by an average of 25 percent next year.
“The Obama administration’s confirmation of 25 percent premium hike is yet another in a long line of broken promises from the unaffordable Affordable Care Act. The news for Oklahomans is actually much worse, as 2017 premiums will now rise by 76 percent and Blue Cross Blue Shield is now the only health insurer offering plans on the federal exchange in 2017. Clearly, Obamacare is not working for all Americans. This is not just a partisan criticism; even Bill Clinton called Obamacare ‘the craziest thing in the world’ and Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton said that Obamacare is ‘no longer affordable to increasing numbers of people.’
“Congress put a bill to repeal Obamacare on the President’s desk this year but he vetoed it. Now, more than ever before, we need a President in the White House that is willing to work with Congress to realistically address skyrocketing health care costs and dwindling options. What we need is a legislative replacement that lowers the cost of providing quality care, increases competition, expands health saving accounts, and allows each state to manage health care for their citizens, like my Health Care Compact legislation.”
