Senator Lankford Applauds Confirmation of Christopher Wray as FBI Director

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) issued the following statement on Senate confirmation of Christopher Wray as FBI Director by a vote of 92 to 5:

“I’m pleased that Christopher Wray has been confirmed and the FBI has new leadership. Wray’s experience both in private and public service will serve him well to uphold the mission of the FBI to protect and defend the United States. When we met recently, I was encouraged by his vision for addressing counterterrorism, gang violence, cyber threats, and trans-national criminal organizations. In a time when our nation’s cybersecurity and counterterrorism are constantly threatened, the role of the FBI is critical to protect our nation. Wray’s strong and steady leadership will serve our nation and the agency well.”

On July 13, Lankford met with Mr. Wray in his office at the US Capitol. Lankford serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee and Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, which has jurisdiction over the FBI.
