Senator Lankford Applauds Pro-Life Mexico City Policy Executive Order

WASHINGTON, DC –Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today released the following statement on President Trump’s Executive Order to reinstate and update a ban on international aid organizations from providing or promoting abortion. This is often called the ‘Mexico City Policy’:

“For years, our nation has debated life and abortion, but at least we should agree that no taxpayer should be forced to pay for abortion with their hard-earned tax dollars. Reinstating the Mexico City Policy stops our tax money from being used to fund organizations that promote and provide abortion around the world. That should not be controversial.”

Senator Lankford also is an original cosponsor of the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” (S. 184), which would establish a permanent, government-wide prohibition of taxpayer funding for abortion. Similar policies, such as the Hyde Amendment, currently require annual passage and do not apply to Obamacare. S.184 would make the Hyde Amendment permanent.

Lankford will participate in the 44th annual March for Life in Washington, DC this upcoming Friday, January 27.
