WASHINGTON, DC — This week, Senator James Lankford (R-OK) has received the American Conservative Union “Award for Conservative Excellence” for his legislative record in 2015, receiving a score of 96 out of 100, which ties the second highest score in the U.S. Senate.
“Senator James Lankford is a principled constitutional conservative who is deserving of this award,” said American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp. “We are excited about new leaders like James Lankford and what his service will mean for the future of America. As he demonstrated during his CPAC speech, Senator Lankford fully understands that policies that respect our constitutional rights and empower people will ultimately help our nation become more prosperous, free, and faithful.”
“I’m honored to be recognized by the oldest and largest conservative public policy group in the nation, the American Conservative Union,” said Lankford. “We must continue to press forward on policy that limits the reach of the federal government, and gives decision-making authority back to individuals and local leaders. Our nation has many pressing issues regarding government efficiency, national security, and religious freedom, and I’m confident that conservative solutions to these problems will help all Americans.”
Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the nation’s oldest and largest conservative organization. ACU hosts the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), of which Senator Lankford spoke at in March. CPAC is the largest conference in America for conservative grassroots activism. The four-day conference has more than 10,000 activists from all over America. CLICK HERE to view Senator Lankford’s CPAC speech.
