Senator Lankford Statement on White House Immigration Framework

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today made the following statement in support of the White House’s immigration reform framework that was released this afternoon: 

“I applaud the White House for offering a solid framework for immigration reform that provides a responsible solution for DACA, border security, and other immigration issues. This framework provides certainty for families, enacts common-sense reforms to nuclear family sponsorship policy, and protects our nation. Ignoring our many immigration problems is a form of amnesty that must end. In the days ahead, Congress must immediately engage in honest immigration debate focused on solutions, not partisanship.”

Lankford has offered a number of solutions for DACA and border security. Last year, he introduced the SUCCEED Act, an alternative to the DREAM Act, and the SECURE Act. During a floor speech last Friday, Lankford encouraged both parties to come together to negotiate an immigration solution.
