Senator Lankford Supports National Defense Authorization Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today released the following statement on Senate passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (S.2943) by a vote of 85-13:
“With the instability around the world at an all-time high, our state is very aware that national defense is a priority and constitutional responsibility. This National Defense Authorization Act provides essential equipment for the military to work with our intelligence community to combat radical Islamic terrorism and the threat of ISIS. It will help us stand up to an increasingly belligerent Russia, an expansionist China, and an unpredictable North Korea. I’m also pleased that this bill provides a well-deserved pay increase for men and women in uniform and more support for military families. Additionally, the bill provides funding for the fifth generation fighter, the F-35, as well as funding for the KC-46, which is the replacement to the Air Force’s vintage air refuelers, and it provides for critical upgrades to our Paladin artillery and missile defense systems. This is a responsible bill that is within our budget. I will continue to fight for the appropriate resources for our national security and ensure our men and women in uniform have what they need to keep us safe.”
