Senators Lankford & Tillis Joint Statement on White House Meeting on DACA, Immigration

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Thom Tillis (R-NC), co-authors of the SUCCEED Act, issued the following joint statement on their meeting today with President Trump and Senate Republicans on solutions for DACA and border security: 

“Today’s meeting between the President and Senate Republicans was productive, and we are all on the same page when it comes to securing our borders once and for all and providing long-term certainty for DACA youth. Over the course of the last several weeks, we have negotiated in good faith with Senate Democrats on a DACA agreement. Unfortunately, our discussions on border security and enforcement with Democrats are much further apart, and that is key to getting a bipartisan deal on DACA. Until that happens, we cannot accomplish the solutions our country needs and many families deserve. More work remains ahead.”
