Senators Lankford, Inhofe Praise Committee Advancement of Oklahoman Tim Downing

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today praised the committee advancement of Timothy Downing to serve as US Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma. Downing’s nomination was reported favorably by voice vote today in the Senate Judiciary Committee and will now move to the full Senate for consideration.

“I’d like to thank the Judiciary Committee for approving the nomination of Tim Downing to serve as US Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma,” said Lankford. “Tim is a qualified nominee, and I look forward to his confirmation by the full Senate in the days ahead.”

“Tim has served the State of Oklahoma vigilantly in multiple capacities, including in the Oklahoma Attorney General’s office, as a state legislator and as counsel to the Oklahoma Secretary of State—as well as a Judge Advocate General in the Army Reserve, but before all of that, Tim spent time in my office as a legal fellow,” Inhofe said. “I’m proud of his accomplishments for the people of Oklahoma and have confidence he will continue to serve Oklahoma faithfully in this new role. I look forward to his confirmation.”

Lankford and Inhofe praised the President’s intent to nominate Downing on March 1, 2019.
